Learning Master's degree program in Governmental Accounting
has been developed by Rutgers Business School-Newark and New
Brunswick in order to prepare professionals for rewarding careers
in one of today's fastest growing specialized fields - governmental
accounting and auditing.
The Master of Accountancy (MACCY) in Governmental Accounting
is an interdisciplinary program with the Master's Degree Program
in Public Administration (MPA). Many professionals will
benefit from this program, including:
Prospective CPAs who need
to satisfy an additional 30 credits beyond the baccalaureate degree in
order to sit for the Uniform CPA examination in New Jersey.
Practicing CPAs, as well as other
accountants and auditors working in governmental and nonprofit
MPA and accounting students
who plan to take the nationally recognized Certified Government Financial
Manager's (CGFM) Examination, administered and sponsored by the Association
of Government Accountants.
MBA and MPA program
students who wish to specialize in Government Financial Management.
This challenging program integrates core courses in governmental accounting,
budgeting, public sector auditing, information systems technology and public
financial management with electives such as capital budgeting and management
control in non profit organizations.
It is a unique 30 credit program--the first of its kind in
the country--to offer a Master of Accountancy Degree in Governmental
Accounting with a focus in the field of Government Financial
Management. It is even more unique because all courses required
for the degree may now be taken online, over the Internet,
and are taught by our distinguished faculty. Students tell
us that they appreciate the flexibility that this type of
asynchronous distance learning offers.
Up to six credits may be transferred into the program from
another accredited university, with prior approval of the
